My European adventure will no doubt take me through a great deal of countries, and so I will split this page up accordingly.
First up, Bulgaria. I spent a couple of weeks in Bulgaria, travelling through Burgas, working at an organic farm in Ovchi Kladenets and hitching through Veliko Tranevo. The photos below are from my time there.

After spending longer than expected in both Romania and Bulgaria, I was forced into rushing the next 3 countries, seeing only the capital cities. They were however, magnificent. First up was Budapest, in Hungary.
Next up, I made my way to Vienna. It was quite the journey, but well worth it. The architecture and history of the place make it amazing to just wander and get lost. Below are some shots of the city.
The final capital on my list was Prague. For this I teamed up with Claire Murphy to see what it was all about!
During our time in the Czech Republic, we also took a day trip to the Ossario di Sedlec, an amazing church filled with human bones!
After the Czech Republic I made my way to Karlsruhe, Germany for the Summer Academy. Below are some shots of my time there, in Heidelberg, the Black Forest as well as time spent with Tom and Yannick whilst in Germany.
After Germany I had a brief stopover in Luxembourg. Unfortunately I only really took one photo of what was a very picturesque city.
I was fortunate enough to spend 4 days in Paris, staying with the lovely Sandrine and her family. Below are just a few of the hundreds of photos that I took of my time there.
Heading further south in France, I paid a visit to Timmy in Lyon where he is learning French. Some shenanigans ensued, but it was great to catch up.
The next friend to get a visit was Luisa, in the tiny Catalan town of Besalu. Below are some shots of the town, the medieval festival held there and a nearby pristine lake.
After Spain I hit up Italy - the country of my exchange in 2005/06. Needless to say, it was great to be home. Below are some shots, including time in Sardegna, Rome, farming in Tuscany, visiting families in Ravenna and Pella.
After Italy, my final solo European country was Switzerland, were I met up with my parents and Christina - an ex-exchange student. It was an amazing beautiful country and I was completely taken aback by it.
It looked suspiciously like you were matik-ing in bare feet!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful place to unwind from some hard travel. Great piggy shots. Love, Mum
Hi Casey, Jon Meredith your cousin here. I certainly wouldn't hitchhike through Eastern Europe! Great blog. If you get bored you can read my taxi blog at www.canberrataxi.blogspot.com. Enjoy the course in Germany. It's a shame you didn't get to Croatia - the islands are amazing but its a great deal pricier the Nha Trang!
ReplyDeleteYou really are a super talented photographer !!! It was so great to see you. The kids are going to love the pictures on the Lego men page ;-)
